Leaving Certificate/ Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP) 

 
     
 
 

SENIOR CYCLE

One year Transition Year Programme, two-year course leading to: Leaving Certificate of the Department of Education and Science. Higher Level courses are available in all subjects.

 

Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP): 

The Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme encompassing Enterprise Education and  Preparation for the World of Work.

Work Experience

Arrangements are made each year for the placement of Transition Year Students and Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme students with organisations and businesses for work experience. The placements are of exceptional benefit to the students in providing them with practical knowledge of the world of work.

 

Repeat Leaving Certificate

This course is offered to facilitate students who did not achieve their desired results in the Leaving Certificate and who wish to make a second genuine attempt to attain their goal.

Transition Year (TY) Programme

 
     
 

Transition Year offers students space and opportunity to mature as young people growing up and develop greater self-confidence. The students are better prepared for life and a solid foundation for the Leaving Certificate Programmes is built.  Students are also involved in developing Enterprises and gain valuable experience in the skills involved in organising, running and completing their own projects.

There are no fees for the courses
There are no formal entry requirements for Adults or Mature Students / Adult Retraining participants.

Coláiste Eoin is pleased to facilitate Adults who wish to retrain for entry into the work force. The courses are designed in a flexible way, so that the adult learner may choose appropriate elements of the course with classes being held in the “mornings only” if appropriate.
 

A SECOND CHANCE IN EDUCATION

The Department of Education & Science offers a Maintenance Grants Scheme for

students attending an Adult and Continuing Education Certificate Course. 

 

The Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme

(VTOS) is designed to help financially those who are over 21 and in receipt of

unemployment payments or credits for at least six months.

 

SCHOOL LEAVER – ENTRY REQUIREMENT

Applications for the courses are welcome from people who have completed their education or have a Leaving Certificate or who have obtained satisfactory results in the Junior Certificate.

 

ASSESSMENT

The assessment and accreditation of the various elements of the course will be conducted by the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC) and where appropriate the ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence).

  The Learners who complete this course will:
  - Appreciate the responsibilities involved in caring for children and physical needs.
  - Appreciate the importance of providing an environment that is healthy, hygienic and safe
  - Identify and respond to children’s developmental needs and progression in child development.

Interior Design

 
     
 

This course is for students interested in a comprehensive practical and theoretical introduction to interior design and related fields of work for personal or commercial reasons. Students completing this course will attain a National Vocational Certificate Level 2 in Interior Design.

  This is an extensive course in Business Skills, Business Administration and Computer Applications. It is designed to equip people with the skills necessary for employment in the modern office. Participants will be trained in a range of Business Skills with a special emphasis on Word Processing and Computerised Applications. Career Guidance, Preparation for Work and Work Experience will be an integral part of the course.

Wood/Metal Craft and Design

 
     
  This is an extensive course in Wood/Metal Craft and Design. The course will prepare students for employment or further training in all aspects of the craft and design industries and for leisure pursuits. There will be special emphasis on practical applications, including Woodcraft, Metalcraft and Computer Aided Drafting. The course will help students to develop, and explore new skills. Mature students are welcome to participate.
